Valley Krimmler Achental in the national park Hohe Tauern during winter covered with ice and snow with Mt. Dreiherrnspitze (3498m). The valley Krimmler Achental is leading up to one of the old passes over the Hohe Tauern mountain range. Nowadays it attracts thousends of visitors as the famous Krimml waterfalls are located at the valley mouth. The national Park Hohe Tauern is protecting the high mountain environment of the Hohe Tauern mountain range including some neighbouring ranges like parts of the Zillertal Alps. The landforms of high, glaciated mountains with peaks, glaciers and valleys are characteristic for this national park. the park is home to many endangered species, but also a main attraction for tourism in austria.
