Description: Flammes d'automne |
Panoramic Photographer: Bernard Bischoff | View all photos by this panoramic photographer >>> Bernard Bischoff was born in 1954 and lives in Reichshoffen (France) at the foot of the sandstone Vosges mountains in northern Alsace. He grew up in the (still) lush biodiversity of the foothills, and began his self-taught photographic approach of nature when he was 12, having already spent most of his childhood years discovering and observing the wildlife of surrounding forests, orchards and meadows.
Henri Ulrich, one of the major forerunners of wildlife photography and Robert Hainard, a patient observer, guided him in his quest of the unattainable ideal picture.
He is the first naturalist photographer to depict wild animals in panoramic format, vertical or horizontal. The technique used is stitched images (up to 20 for 180°), shot with Canon 5DII and 7D and lenses from 20 to 300mm. Beautiful square pictures can also be obtained with multi-row assembling.
Since 1999, his website "Nature Libre" is dedicated to panoramic photos of wild animals and landscapes : http://www.bernardbischoff.fr
He has published two books with panoramic nature photographies :
- "Nature à Coeur" (Nature at Heart), published in 2005 by Editions les Petites Vagues. - in September 2008, he auto-edited "Quêtes de Lumières" (Quests of Lights). This 160-page book presents a stroll through his favourite hunting grounds, the Northern Vosges, giving an insight of the problems encountered by biodiversity in a region apparently unharmed, yet already showing the stigmata of the corruption of the environment in our modern world.
